Microchipping is also necessary if you wish to obtain passport for your pet. Having a microchip will enable your pet to enter/re-enter the UK without quarantine*.

Why have your dog microchipped?
If your dog got lost or stolen, wouldn't it be great if you could find out where they were by making a single phone call to the Petlog National Database?
Have your pet microchipped and it could be this easy. The microchip is inserted under the dog's skin, and it carries a unique 15 digit identification number which can be used to track your dog's movements.
Background information
The microchip was invented in the early 1990s in order to enable the easy location of lost or stolen animals.
Microchips are tiny - about the size of a grain of rice - and cause no discomfort to the animal once inserted.
Paris Grooming Microchips
Paris Grooming has an Appropriately Trained Implanter and uses ISO compliant microchips meeting specifications 11784/5 which can be read in the UK and Europe. For a one off fee of £20 a microchip implant (an identifying integrated circuit) is placed under the skin of your dog between its shoulder blades.
In 1996 a revised and final version of the microchipping ISO (International Standard) 11784/5 for companion was devised. DEFRA oversees the Standard for the UK.
